Overview
Needle and sharps removal is the systematic location, safe collection and licensed disposal of discarded hypodermic needles, syringes, lancets and associated drug paraphernalia found in public and private spaces. It is not a quick pick-up job - it requires a trained operative wearing puncture-resistant gloves, UN3291-approved sharps containers, a documented grid sweep of the affected area, and disposal through a licensed clinical waste route with a full consignment note. We also carry out anti-microbial decontamination of the surface once sharps are cleared, since discarded needles are frequently found alongside blood residue, spoons, foil and other paraphernalia carrying blood-borne pathogens.
We're called out by housing associations and social landlords dealing with communal stairwells and bin stores, schools and nurseries finding needles in play areas or car parks, councils and business improvement districts managing public land, retail parks and shopping precincts, GP surgeries and pharmacies, and private homeowners who've found sharps in a garden, driveway or outbuilding.
